Epsilon preserves water resources

In the face of climate change, protecting water resources has become a worldwide challenge. On the island of Madagascar, saving and diversifying water supply sources is essential, as until now, part of its water has been pumped from a lake. In 2019, EPSILON had two boreholes drilled, the first 100 metres deep and the second 50 metres deep, in order to extract water sustainably from the groundwater table. Indeed, the production site needs water of high enough quality to carry out the process of dyeing and rinsing the garments.

By implementing a series of good practices such as re-use of dye-cooling water, recycling of water, and phyto-purification of discharged water via constructed wetlands, Epsilon aims to reduce its water consumption by 30% by 2021. The workshop recycles wastewater using physico-chemical, biological and phytological treatments. It treats 30 m3 of water per day on average.
