Ocean protection begins upstream through safeguarding rivers and the ecological continuity of watercourses. By reducing the proliferation of plastic in rivers that flow into oceans and by working to reintroduce aquatic species threatened by fish rearing farms, such as salmon and trout, victims of rising water temperatures and water pollution, we can recreate an ecosystem that is conducive to the reproduction of living organisms.
The "blue network", the aquatic counterpart of the "green network" part of the Grenelle 1 Act, consists in recreating biodiversity in rivers and wetlands by providing a welcoming habitat for amphibians and fish, in particular through "pass" systems that enable the free movement of migratory fish that can then reach their reproduction areas. Hand-in-hand with its stakeholders, CEPOVETT is committed to protecting rivers that nourish oceans.
