OPTIMISING DIFFERENTLY

REDUCING OUR WATER FOOTPRINT

COMMITMENT NO. 5 - ENVIRONMENT

Preserving water resources is a key concern for the textile industry, which is a major consumer of water, not just for cotton production but also for industrial manufacturing processes.

Reducing waste is the driving force behind many innovative technical solutions aimed at reducing water consumption and making it easier to recycle wastewater. By reprocessing water in a cyclical process, we can reduce our water footprint and reuse this precious natural resource in a sustainable, non-polluting way.

As climate change intensifies, droughts are becoming increasingly frequent in many regions of France.

Because water is a precious resource that needs to be conserved, CEPOVETT has installed a reservoir which recuperates surface water from roofs and car parks at its logistics platform in Villefranche-sur-Saône. With a volume of 2,500 cubic metres, this installation retains and filters water using phyto-evaporation (natural filtration by plants) before pumping it back into the network. Around 50% of the logistics platform's water requirements are met using this collected water. This initiative by CEPOVETT illustrates the company's best practices in reducing its water footprint and conserving water resources. Collecting rainwater is an environmentally-friendly practice, but one that is regulated in France. This water is non-drinkable and must be reserved for specific uses, and storage areas must be carefully maintained.
